Though Maxwell’s Columbia Records label cited scheduling conflicts, rumor has it that Maxwell is upset because Scott and Erykah Badu–both opening acts–are running over their allotted time.

However, Scott’s publicist squashed that rumor, saying “Jill has enjoyed every moment on stage with Maxwell, whom she calls a consummate gentleman and tour mate. She looks forward to sharing the rest of the tour with all of the supportive followers.”

The tour is now scheduled to conclude with a special two-night performance at Madison Square Garden on June 25 and 26. The rescheduled concerts will be announced later this year.

BET’s fan poll currently has Chris Brown slated to win with 38% of the votes.  Usher is following a close second with 30% of the votes.  Although the poll is unofficial, fans get the chance to show support for their favorite artist.  Maxwell has also been nominated for the Centric Award.  Other nominees include Monica, Melanie Fiona, Sade and Chrisette Michele.

Currently Maxwell is in the midst of his summer tour with Jill Scott.  Special guests joining the duo for select dates include Erykah Badu and Melanie Fiona.

The BET Awards ceremony will air live on Sunday, June 27th at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California.  Hosting the event will be the queen herself, Queen Latifah.

The success of “Fistful of Tears” has earned Maxwell the honor of becoming the first solo male to achieve three consecutive No. 1 listings on Billboard’s Adult R&B chart.  The music video, directed by Phil Andelman, will debut on Vevo.com April 14th, 2010.

And as if you needed another reason to get Maxwell tickets… It has also been announced that Erykah Badu will be taking the stage with Maxwell for his second performance at Madison Square Garden on June 26th.  For a complete list of tour dates, visit Maxwell’s official website.

So far, sixteen dates are on the schedule, starting in Cleveland at Quicken Loans Arena on May 21st and finishing up at Madison Square Garden in NYC on June 25th. Other key stops include Chicago (5/25), Los Angeles (6/5), Atlanta (6/12), Washington, DC (6/18), and Philadelphia (6/19). More dates are expected to be added.

Maxwell tickets guarantee a phenomenal show, and they serve a philanthropic purpose, as well. According to Maxwell’s website, one dollar from each ticket purchased will be donated to Haitian earthquake relief efforts via a number of different organizations: Clinton Foundation, Yele Haiti, Red Cross, and UNICEF. In addition, another dollar will go to the Blues Babe Foundation,  a non-profit founded by Jill Scott to assist students in underserved communities to promote leadership and academic excellence.

Jill Scott has been been a busy woman in advance of this tour. The singer, actress and fashion designer, she has a new album coming out this summer entitled “The Light Of The Sun”, and is also prepping for the release of two movies, a cartoon series and a line of intimate apparel.

His song “Pretty Wings” won for ‘Best Male R&B Vocal Performance; and his album “Blacksummers’ Night” won for ‘Best R&B Album.’

He was also nominated for four other Grammy Awards: ‘Song of the Year’ went to “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” by Beyonce; ‘Best Male Pop Vocal Performance’ went to Jason Mraz; ‘Best Pop Instrumental Performance’ went to Bela Fleck; and ‘Best R&B Song’ went to “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).”

“To get Grammys, and to even be included in a community of musicians [like this], it’s just such a blessing,” Maxwell told MTV. “And then to have this wonderful legend, Roberta Flack, come walking out with this song, she’s just amazing. I felt like I was suspended in animation. It was really surreal to me to be on that stage.”

He will be sharing the evening with other Grammy-nominated stars, including Taylor Swift, The Black Eyed Peas, Beyonce and Lady Antebellum. All told, this first set of performers have a combined total of 32 nominations among them!

Maxwell received six nominations himself to top off an amazing comeback from more than 5 years of virtual anonimity. His noms include Song of the Year, Best R&B Album, and Best R&B Song, just to name a few. Be sure to check out the show to see him sing and find out this year’s winners.

The 2010 Grammy Nominees were announced on Wednesday, and Maxwell was in awe to receive his handful of nominations, specifically in the following categories:

Song of the Year - “Pretty Wings”

Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for “Love You”

Best Pop Instrumental Performance for “Phoenix Rise”

Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for “Pretty Wings”

Best R&B Song - “Pretty Wings”

Best R&B Album - “Blacksummers’ Night”

The AP reported his disbelief upon hearing the news stating, “This is very surreal for me. I’m not used to this. I’ve been throwing out my trash, buying milk, and living in basic obscurity…. I feel like I’ve already won.”

That’s a great attitude to have, and he’ll need all the positive vibes he can get. Maxwell is going up against many music veterans in the various categories, including Beyonce, John Legend, Jason Mraz, India Arie and others.

The 52nd Grammy Awards airs on January 31, 2010, from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA, on CBS at 8pm (EST).

“I got the call that he wanted to meet me. We had already met. We met in New York City one time. He thought one of my cars was his. He was trying to get into my car. I had a car, a Mercedes, outside, and he thought it was his car. It was the funniest thing because he remembered. He was like, ‘Yeah, I remember you. I was trying to get into your car.’ I was going to give him the car. Take the car!” Maxwell said.

The tour will run through October 17th and include stops in Detroit, Washington, DC, Madison Square Garden in NYC, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas and more. Check the event listings for the full set of dates.

Lending full support on the tour is hip hop artist Common, except Detroit and Philadelphia, while the sultry R&B chanteuse Chrisette Michele will open all dates.

Maxwell is supporting his first collection in almost a DECADE! It’s hard to belive he’s been out of the scene for that long. “BLACKsummers’night” hit shelves on July 7th, and is expected to be the first of a trilogy, with subsequent albums “BlackSUMMERS’night” and “Blacksummers’NIGHT” to be released in 2010 and 2011, respectively.

The tour includes a lot of intimate venues to reconnect with fans, though he’s also working some bigger stages - he also headlined the New Orleans’ Essence Music Festival on July 4th.

Maxwell spent most of last fall on the road - his first time touring in almost six years.

In 1996, Maxwell released the incredibly popular and critically acclaimed “Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite,” and in 2001 he released “Now.”
